Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about playing Scotix.
Is Scotix free to play?
Yes. Every game on Scotix is free to play in your web browser. We keep the platform free by showing ads. You can play solo Practice rounds without even creating an account.
Do I need to create an account?
No account is needed to try the games in Practice mode. Creating a free account lets you save your ELO rating, stats and progress, sync across devices, and play ranked 1v1 duels that affect your rating.
What is the ELO rating?
ELO is a competitive rating that goes up when you win ranked duels and down when you lose, with bigger swings against stronger opponents. It powers fair matchmaking so you face opponents near your own skill level.
Who am I playing against?
Ranked duels are played against AI opponents spread across many difficulty tiers, so there is always a fair challenge. Solo Practice mode lets you train any game at your own pace with no opponent.
What is the difference between Practice and Duel mode?
Practice is a relaxed solo session with no opponent and no impact on your record. Duel mode is a ranked 1v1 against an AI opponent that updates your ELO, wins and losses.
What kinds of games are there?
Scotix has 13 games across three disciplines: arithmetic (mental math), grid logic, and working memory. Browse them all on the games page.
Does Scotix work on mobile?
Yes. Scotix runs in any modern mobile browser, and native Android and iOS apps are available too. Your account and progress sync across all of them.
Will brain games make me smarter?
We make no medical or IQ claims. Scotix is built to be a fun way to practice skills like mental arithmetic, attention and short-term memory. Like any skill, you tend to get faster and more accurate at these specific tasks the more you play.
